About the music: Violetta, a famous Parisian courtesan, has just thrown a party to celebrate her recovery from illness. A young nobleman, Alfredo, has worshipped her from afar and they finally met at the party, where he declared his undying love. After the party, Violetta wonders to herself if Alfredo is ‘the one’ – but soon dismisses the idea, as she prefers to be ‘always free’.
