Mosques 'need to expose the vile ideology that twists and perverts Islam'

The government needs to "re-prioritise community cohesion" in schools to give children a sense of belonging and shared values, says Shahid Mailk.

The former Labour MP and justice minister represented Dewsbury, the home of Thala Asmal, who left the town and killed himself in an apparent suicide bomb attack in Iraq "in the name of the vile ISIS."

In a personal film for This Week, Mr Malik calls for mosques to "preach anti-extremism" and warns home secretaries trying to appear tough that they risk "greater isolation, greater victimhood and greater vulnerability to extremism".
