‘I officially died three times after Afghan ambush’
Former soldier Martyn Compton has described the roadside ambush in Afghanistan that left him with third-degree burns on more than 70% of his body.
He told the Victoria Derbyshire programme how he “officially died three times” and needed hundreds of operations to reconstruct parts of his body.
L/Cpl Martyn Compton, from Staplehurst, Kent, was given a medical discharge in 2014, and is now hoping to get enough sponsorship to take part in endurance race Le Mans as part of the first disabled team.
