Actor David Morrissey on refugees' plight
David Morrissey, star of the Walking Dead and many other dramas, has told the Victoria Derbyshire programme that Britain must face up to the crisis facing refugees in the Mediterranean.
The actor has just been to see the situation on the Greek island of Lesvos where around 1,000 refugees are arriving from war-torn Syria on a daily basis.
He told Victoria that the coastguards on the island were picking up the same amount of people in one day as they picked up in the whole of 2014.
He added: "They are over-stretched...residents, business owners and tourists have been immensely helpful providing food and nappies but they are overrun and they can't cope."
