What next for industrial communities?
"No jobs and no future for the kids," that is what people in one former mining village near Doncaster have told the Victoria Derbyshire programme.
Hatfield Colliery closed suddenly three weeks ago and the former miners are planning a demonstration this weekend - with no prospect of their jobs being saved they want to at least save the pit winding wheels.
There is now only one deep coal mine left in Britain.
As extra powers are being offered to city mayors and the new emphasis on the big urban centres that make up the Northern Powerhouse, Dan Johnson asks if there is a future for industrial communities?
