Meet the real Captain Phillips
Most people think of Tom Hanks in the role of Captain Phillips in the 2013 Hollywood movie of the same name.
In the real life drama Captain Richard Phillips was held hostage by pirates who captured his ship, the MV Maersk Alabama, in 2009. He was rescued after US Navy Seals shot dead 3 of his captors.
So what鈥檚 his take on the use of armed guards to protect shipping from being attacked?
Inside Out鈥檚 Chris Jackson has been speaking to Capt. Phillips as part of his investigation into what led to the arrest of six ex-soldiers from the North who now face trial for gun running after their vessel strayed into Indian waters.
The men say they鈥檝e been abandoned by the company that employed them to guard cargo ships in the high risk zone between India and the Gulf.
The company, Advanfort, declined to respond citing the pending litigation in India and its efforts to free the crew and guards.
