Triumph revs into Indian market

"Superbikes" - motorbikes with powerful engines – are growing in popularity in India. A decade ago just a couple of hundred were sold in the country and though the numbers are still relatively small, last year that figure was close to 10,000.

One firm getting in on that market is the British bike maker Triumph.

Founded in 1984, Triumph is now in 56 countries around the world. Since it launched in India 18 months ago, it has sold about 2,000 bikes and opened a factory to assemble them, helping to keep costs down.

The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's Pratiksha Ghildial met the managing director for Triumph India, Vimal Sumbly, and started by asking him about the growing market for expensive bikes.
