Holidaymaker ‘relieved’ to get off Sharm el-Sheikh plane

The UK has halted all flights between Britain and Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, saying there is a "significant possibility" an explosive device caused the Russian plane crash at the weekend.

Kate Dodd, a British holidaymaker from Didsbury, Manchester, who is in Sharm el-Sheikh, was sat on a plane ready to fly home, when she found out about the security concerns from speaking to her parents.

“It was me who told one of the cabin crew actually, he said they literally had no idea what was going on,” said Kate Dodd. All passengers were then taken off the plane.

Janet Howe, director of the tour operator Sharm Solutions, which is based in Sharm el-Sheikh said that after the crash business remained the same, and found the government's decision to stop flights "a complete shock".
