Nanook of the North, a 1922 silent film, chronicled the traditional ways of the Canadian Inuit as they were disappearing, with a new soundtrack by Canadian singer, Tanya Tagaq.

Nanook of the North, a 1922 silent film made by American film-maker Robert J Flaherty, chronicled the traditional ways of the Canadian Inuit just as they were disappearing for ever. It follows the lives of Nanook and his 鈥榝amily鈥� living in some of the harshest landscapes on earth.

This version features an entirely new soundtrack by Canadian Inuk throat-singer, Tanya Tagaq, recorded in association with The Banff Centre, Canada.

Part of the Radio 3 Northern Lights season.
