A decision on whether to build a third runway at Heathrow Airport has been delayed until at least next summer, the government confirmed on Thursday.

Shadow transport secretary Lilian Greenwood said the decision had been kicked into the long grass for political reasons, but did not confirm what approach Labour would take. She called for clear proposals from the government.
