On Monday, Catherine McKinnell become the latest shadow cabinet member to quit, citing concerns with Labour's direction under leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Speaking to the Daily Politics, shadow justice secretary Lord Falconer said Mr Corbyn's top team was "strong", but he said the party needed to focus on attacking the government, rather than itself.

Richard Burgon, a shadow Treasury minister, told Jo Coburn the party was more united than the media portrayed, saying Labour MPs and peers "agree on 99% of things".

On Trident, Mr Burgon - who opposes the nuclear weapons system - acknowledged he and Lord Falconer held opposing views but said "we respect each other's opinions".

The party is conducting a review of its defence policy, with its position on Trident a part of that process.

Asked whether he would quit the shadow cabinet if Labour adopted an anti-Trident stance, Lord Falconer told Jo Coburn "let's see where we get to", adding that he wasn't going to "speculate".
