Inside a 500 year old lava tube

Haiwaii's Thurston (Nahuku) Lava Tube is one of Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park's most popular lava tubes.

The tubes are formed when an upper layer of a lava flow cools and hardens but molten rock continues to flow beneath it. The conduit enables lava to move further then it could if it were to be exposed to the surface.

The Travel Show's Carmen Roberts finds out more.
