Mental Abuse, EU & Living Standards

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

At what point do you pack your bags and leave your partner? That's the question a Rutland woman has raised after being one of the thousands of listeners gripped to a plot-line of The Archers over the past few months. Helen Walmsley Johnson is one of the many that have been harrowed by the story of a Rob Tichener and his coercive, controlling behaviour towards his wife. For Helen listening to Rob is painful because she went through a similar experience.
Also, the countdown is on to June's referendum when YOU will get to decide whether Britain leaves the European Union, or stays. David Cameron will face MPs later to explain why he thinks the UK should remain IN the EU. He'll set out the details of the deal he agreed with other European leaders last week - a deal he claims will make Britain safer, stronger and better off. We put some quiz questions to Jim & Jo and some of you with the help of our reporter Helen McCarthy, who's in Market Harborough.
And, the number of working families at risk of falling below decent living standards continues to rise - according to a Leicestershire academic. A study by Loughborough University has found that 2-and-a-half million people still struggle to make ends meet, despite many being in work. But a separate report by the Resolution Foundation says that people in the East Midlands are better off now than at any time since the recession.
