Weka Territory
Rails are a widespread family of birds, usually found around swamps. On the continents they are quite shy and hide in the undergrowth. But on islands, they seem to have no fear at all. The weka, for instance, became flightless because of its isolation on an immense island - New Zealand. The first land living mammals to arrive here were humans, a mere 1,500 years ago, so in New Zealand birds once ruled the Earth.
