George Martin, Junior Doctors & Veterans

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

The so called Fifth Beatle, George Martin, has died at the age of 90 it has been announced this morning. He took the Beatles on when no one else would have them, and the rest, as they say, is History. In 2002 he crowned a remarkable career by producing the second of two concerts at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee. We hear your memories.

Also, the warning from one junior doctor from Leicester that many others are looking to leave the country rather than put up with working conditions and pay being imposed on them. His comments come as junior doctors start yet another series of strikes this morning- this time for 48 hours- in a dispute with the government. It means that more than 700 hospital appointments have been cancelled across Leicester, and 36 operations too.

And, desperation, destitution and poor mental health. Three very personal reasons why an army veteran from Barlestone in Leicestershire swung into action to help other ex-soldiers with similar struggles. Andy Spiers started a charity from his kitchen table to help veterans who've fallen on hard times - today - three years after it started Andy's charity, 'Once We Were Soldiers', is moving into it's first official headquarters in Coalville.
