Why the traditional legal systems of China, Korea, Vietnam and Japan can be grouped together as the "Far Eastern Family of Law" – and what their common origins and distinctive features are.
This third programme looks at the legalists who sought social order through the law, the Confucianists who stressed the importance of personal virtue, and the influence of 19th- and 20th-century colonialists is discussed.
Speakers include Dr Michael Palmer and Professor Hiroshi Oda from London University and Dr Ta Van Tai from Harvard Law School.
