Babar Ahmad: Sadiq Khan gave me the same level of support as Zac Goldsmith and Boris Johnson
A British man who was jailed in the United States after being accused of being one of the pioneers of internet jihad has spoken about the support offered to him by Labour’s London Mayoral candidate.
Babar Ahmad fought a record eight year battle against extradition from the UK to the US, and his campaign was supported by his local MP, Sadiq Khan.
Mr Khan's support has been criticised by some, and Babar Ahmad has never commented on it before.
A spokesperson for the MP said “in his role as Chair of the human rights group Liberty, Sadiq Khan campaigned against the unfair UK-US extradition treaty and for Babar Ahmad to be tried in the UK. This was a campaign supported by MPs from all parties, including Boris Johnson and Zac Goldsmith."
This is part 3 of Victoria Derbyshire’s exclusive interview, and begins with Babar Ahmad showing off a mosque he built from 25,000 matches whilst inside Long Lartin prison in Worcestershire while fighting against extradition to the States.
