Are woman being denied caesareans over costs?
A senior coroner has warned of a risk of future deaths if the NHS favours vaginal delivery over caesarean sections on the basis of cost.
Andrew Walker made his comments after the death of a newborn baby Kristian Jaworski, whose mother Tracey Taylor was denied a planned caesarean at a north London hospital.
He said it made him fear that lives were being put at risk.
Joanna Gosling spoke to Elizabeth Prochaska from the charity Birthrights, which campaigns for women's human rights in pregnancy, Louise Silverton, director for midwifery at the Royal College of Midwives and Laura Warner, who elected to have a caesarean for the birth of her second son after experiencing a stillbirth.
