Jersey's Hidden Addiction? Over-the-counter abuse: part 2

Despite a slight dip in 2015, Jersey's Drug and Alcohol Service says it's getting around 100 referrals a year of people mentioning issues with over-the-counter and prescription medication.

A recent report found that the majority of pharmacists surveyed think over-the-counter medication is being abused - with codeine-based painkillers being the main culprits. There are fresh concerns that under-18s may be trying to buy painkillers for recreational use.

All medicines mentioned in the report are highly regulated and safe when used correctly. Risks of addiction occur only if they are misused.
