Reggae: Bob Marley and The Wailers - 'Stir It Up'

Bob Marley and The Wailers perform ‘Stir it up’ written by Bob Markey in 1967. This clip is taken from a session filmed for the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú series 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' in 1973. It was the first time the band had visited the UK and the song became their first big success.

Reggae started in Jamaica and developed in the late 1960s as a mix of Calypso, Jazz and Rhythm and Blues. The music has a laid back feel, with bass and drums create the rhythm, with strong accents on the 2nd and 4th beats of a bar.
