A gardener who began his career aged 10 has made his debut appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Nick Bailey is a designer who has set out his first show garden at the show.

He said: "I'd prime my mother after school that when friends came round after school to ask me to go out and play she should tell them I'd misbehaved and was not allowed out.

"As a 10-year-old I was too embarrassed to admit I preferred my flowers to playing football."
