New vessel revealed for Shotley ferry service
A new vessel has been introduced to the Shotley/Felixstowe/Harwich passenger and bicycle ferry service.
Christian Zemann and his wife Lucy took over the service a year ago, using the existing 12-seater boat Explorer 12. It was built in 1984 and used on the route for 11 years.
Now 58 passengers will be able to travel at a time, along with their bicycles.
Mr Zemann said he invested in the larger craft as he couldn't bear the thought of telling families with their children that he was "sorry", but he couldn't take them across, fearful of the tears that might follow.
