Chris Boardman: I owe Obree an apology
Former Olympic individual pursuit champion Chris Boardman admits that he owes his fierce rival Graeme Obree an apology for the way he treated him during their competition days.
Boardman told OJ Borg that it was difficult to reflect on how he behaved during his career as he wrote his memoirs in his recent autobiography.
"A lot of the time I did not particularly like myself as a person and in a sense there is an opportunity to apologise to people that you value now, that I did not appreciate at the time. I think chief amongst those would be Graeme Obree.
"You are encouraged as an athlete to be a selfish person which people do not realise and it does not generate a nice person."
