Murphy: Why aren't ex-players helping pick Hodgson successor?

Former England midfielder Danny Murphy says it is "ludicrous" the FA is not turning to former players for guidance when choosing the next manager of the national team.

Roy Hodgson resigned on Monday following England's exit from Euro 2016 when they lost 2-1 to Iceland.

FA chief executive Martin Glenn, FA technical director Dan Ashworth and Manchester United director David Gill will choose Hodgson's successor.

Murphy said: "Me and Chris Waddle could go and sit in a room with those three and educate them a little bit and I am not trying to be condescending. They do not know football."
