Earnshaw on Bale's Wales debut: 'He was unheard of'
Former Wales striker Robert Earnshaw recounts how Gareth Bale, aged just 16 at the time, made his Wales debut.
"He was unheard of. He was unknown. It was kind of like, 'who is this kid?!'"
The striker was soon won over as Bale – then in Southampton’s youth set-up - set him up to score the winner that day against Trinidad & Tobago.
"After five minutes he had his first touch, and started running with the ball. I turned round and said, 'I see it, I see it'".
