Henrik Stenson: Playing at the Olympics is important

Henrik Stenson became the first Swedish man to win one of Golf's majors with victory at Royal Troon on Sunday.

The Swede carded a joint record eight under par 63 to win The Open by three shots after a final-round tussle with Phil Mickelson.

Stenson said 鈥渋t was a dream鈥 to play in the Open and hopes he鈥檒l be able to place an Olympic medal next to his Claret Jug.

Golf returns to the Games or the first times in 112 years in Rio, but some players have declared themselves unavailable, citing concerns over the Zika virus.

But Stenson said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 important [to me] to play in the Olympics. I鈥檝e been looking forward to it for a good few years [鈥 I鈥檒l go in there excited and I鈥檓 going to try my hardest.鈥
