‘Unsung hero’ of England’s ’66 World Cup win

Linda Spraggon was 19 when England won the World Cup in 1966 and had a good reason to be nervous when watching the game on TV at home.

Her father, Harold Shepherdson, broke records as a member of England’s coaching team and played an integral part during the nation's finest hour in football.

He was involved with England in four World Cups and 171 games. 50 years on from England winning the World Cup, Linda, who described her father as the team's 'unsung hero', has compiled a list of his memories from the '66 final and recorded them exclusively for 5 live Daily.
