Legendary Polish director remembered
Andrzej Wajda is considered Poland's all-time greatest film director and one of the masters of European cinema. His films documented pivotal moments in his homeland's history, notably the Second World War and the struggle against Communist rule. He received the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1981 and was recognised in 2000 with a lifetime achievement award at the Academy Awards. Polish journalist Jakub Krupa guides Dan Damon through his career, starting with Mr Wajda's seminal 1958 war film 'Ashes and Diamonds'.
