The struggle to find the right words sometimes means things do not get talked about at all.
Antoinette Sandbach, an MP who made a very emotional speech in the Commons about losing her baby son, is leading a debate to highlight the need for more help for bereaved mothers.
Joanna Gosling spoke to her, Chloe Nicholson - whose daughter was stillborn - and Ruth Ralhan, who is pregnant with twin girls, but knows one of them will be stillborn.
