Prime Minister Theresa May will be 鈥渟ecretly grateful鈥� for the High Court鈥檚 ruling allowing Parliament a vote on leaving the EU, Tim Farron has claimed.

The ruling means the government cannot trigger Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty - beginning formal discussions with the EU - on their own.

The Liberal Democrat leader said the decision would help the PM to 鈥渉ave a plan鈥� with 鈥減roper scrutiny鈥�, rather than 鈥淸jumping] out of an aeroplane without a parachute鈥�.

Mr Farron also told 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio 5 live鈥檚 Emma Barnett there was 鈥渘o will of the people for the country to go for hard Brexit鈥� and triggering Article 50 without 鈥渃onsent鈥� would 鈥渞ob the British people of democracy鈥�.
