Chief Rabbi: ‘The Labour party should expel Ken Livingstone’

Britain’s Chief Rabbi has for the first time called on the Labour party to expel Ken Livingstone, following his suspension six months ago over his comments about Adolf Hitler supporting Zionism.

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis has previously criticised Labour for its anti-semitism problem. But today he told Emma Barnett on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú 5 live that he thought Mr Livingstone should be expelled.

“I'll be surprised if he won't be expelled on the basis of what they have written about what the considerations that they will be taking into mind will be.â€

The former London Mayor was suspended in April, pending an investigation. The party has not yet decided his fate.

The Chief Rabbi also criticised the Labour Party for the lack of progress overall in implementing the recommendations of the Chakrabati report, which was published in June.
