Starving refugees' mother: ‘I have no money to take them to be treated’
The mother of two starving children at a refugee camp in Iraq describes how they became so ill.
Speaking to 5 live’s Anna Foster a day after their initial meeting, the mother says she had struggled to get treatment for the children over the previous month, before their arrival at the camp outside Mosul last week.
Speaking via a translator she said her children had previously been healthy, but in the past few weeks the family had struggled to gain access to basic facilities such as hot water, exacerbating their situation.
