A new study suggests it is easier for stepfathers to get on with their partner鈥檚 children than stepmothers.

The charities Relate and Relationships Scotland released a 鈥楬appy Families?鈥� report which shows that 65% of stepfathers reported good relationships with their stepchildren compared to just 57% of stepmothers.

Speaking to us as part of the 麻豆官网首页入口鈥檚 100 Women season, Alison Ishmael told us about her experiences with her eight-year-old stepdaughter.

Alison said: 鈥淚 didn鈥檛 have children at the time, so I had to ask myself if I was ready for that sort of commitment.鈥�

鈥淚 viewed my role as someone who is part of the family, but never saw myself as a mother-replacement,鈥� she added.
