999 call: “Please hurry up, they’re stuckâ€
Melissa Gibbons made this distressed emergency call to Merseyside Fire and Rescue when a blaze started in the family home.
Her grandparents, Bernard and Maureen Lewis were stuck in an upstairs bedroom with no way to get out.
Melissa managed to escape along with her mum Deborah and made this 999 call. The fire brigade did eventually arrive to rescue the grandparents, but Mr Lewis later died in hospital after inhaling smoke.
