Tory MP: Trump UK visit should not go ahead
Alistair Burt says US and UK officials should agree to delay the President's visit, following executive orders which have banned people from Muslim majority countries entering the US and halted all refugee admissions.
The Conservative MP and former Foreign Office minister said that US officials 鈥渟hould help the UK to try and find a reason for why this visit should not go ahead in the short term [...] otherwise there will be some lasting damage each way".
Speaking to the Westminster Hour's Carolyn Quinn, Mr Burt said that Number Ten and the Foreign Office 鈥渟hould be devising a strategy - what to do when President Trump is putting the United Kingdom in an embarrassing position - and I think you smack back quite hard in the first instance鈥.
