'I had to concede that she would go and live in the children鈥檚 home'

When Helen's daughter was a year old she was diagnosed with microcephaly and everything changed. Helen explains to Jane how it felt to go from being a mother to a carer and what eventually drove her to make the decision that she could no longer care for her disabled daughter herself. She says, 鈥榳e鈥檙e stressed, we鈥檙e often isolated, we鈥檙e overwhelmed and we鈥檙e not helped...so I just think about that if I鈥檓 ever tempted to think I failed, I just remind myself it was a job that just got too big for one person.鈥
