The Jewish Refugees The US Turned Away
In 1939 the SS St Louis, carrying German Jewish refugees fleeing the Nazis, was refused entry to the US, and its passengers forced to return to Europe. Gerald Granston, a 6 year old boy at the time, recalls that fateful journey across the Atlantic.
