Somerby residents are appealing to build a World War 2 memorial
Villagers in Somerby have launched an appeal to build a memorial to nearly 600 men from the 10th Batallion Parachute Regiment who were based there during World War Two.
It's hoped that the 拢75,000 monument will stand on the village green in Somerby to honour the huge sacrifice made by the men at the Battle of Arnhem in Nazi controlled Holland in September 1944. Out of 582 who left the village, only 36 made it back from Holland.
