The knife 'went between his heart and his lungs'
Fitz Meikle works as a matron in a mental health unit in Birmingham. He describes one violent incident where a colleague in the unit was stabbed by a patient wielding a knife.
He says "the blood was pouring from his hand, and the wound in his chest as well".
Fitz says "these things do happen quite regularly", and despite working in a potentially high risk environment "we try to manage that as much as possible... it's very very difficult".
