Over the past year, the digital giants of Google, Amazon, Facebook and Twitter have all faced criticism, challenges and in some cases heavy fines for their behaviour. Politicians and legislators are increasingly worried about their dominance in the digital economy and access to personal data, to the point that US legislators have raised the prospect of forcing their break-up as a way of addressing competition concerns. So are we facing an increasingly fragmented internet or are the big ones too big to bust up?
