Tending old war graves

Lesley Wilson from Hoarwithy in Herefordshire calls Jeremy to explain why she and her husband have tended to a dilapidated grave in their local churchyard.

The grave belongs to one Private George Henry Edwards who died in Bristol in 1918 after injuries sustained in World War One. The Wilson's researched into his history and it appeared that none of the Private鈥檚 descendants had visited the grave, let alone looked after it. The couple decided to repair it ahead of the centenary of his death.

The Wilson's approached the Jeremy Vine Show鈥檚 family history expert Cat Whiteaway who looked into the case and located George鈥檚 great niece, Melanie Ore.

Jeremy talks to Lesley, Cat and Melanie about the processes involved in tending to abandoned graves and plans for the commemoration of the young soldier's death.
