Defence spending in the spotlight
With the Ministry of Defence set to launch a review into the military's needs, The Westminster Hour's John Beesley has been speaking to defence experts and politicians about reports of possible cuts to the armed forces. The Conservative backbencher Johnny Mercer, who spent 10 years as a soldier, has criticised the proposals. He said: "There is a groundswell of opinion and a resilient cohort of MPs that believe that we have a duty to do by those who serve and we are going to do everything we can to hold the Government's feet to the fire on it."
