The village that saved my life
Alan Thompson's life was saved by the combined effort of the residents of the village of Smisby in Derbyshire after he suffered a cardiac arrest whilst on a bike ride.
Owners of the local nursery, an ex-firefighter and a passing motorist took turns to give CPR, and a defibrillator was used by a local pilot to bring Alan back to life.
Alan told 5 Live Breakfast: "They all came together... [it was] that promptness of action and availability of the defibrillator absolutely saved my life."
