麻豆官网首页入口 Music Introducing in Devon and Cornwall, review of Little Orchard Cyder and Music Festival 2018. By Meah Howlett.

Woods adorned with sparkling fairy lights, flags fluttering against blue skies, and the sweet smell of copious amounts of cider filled the charming field situated on the hillside near Perranporth. At first glance you may assume Little Orchard is an alcohol-infused and slightly eccentric fete. With families gathered around hay bales watching pig racing, men huddled competing in apple bobbing and friends and strangers alike coming together to barn dance on mass. Yet with an abundance of portaloos, glitter beards and arguably one of the most eclectic Cornish music line-ups this summer across three stages, it becomes clear very quickly this festival has, for many, become a staple as the summer draws to a close.

As the festival has blossomed over the years, so too has the community of festival-goers who have evidently shaped the event as a whole; with the Dragonfly Stage being established in honour of a regular artist that performed at the festival who recently passed away, crowds filled with spirited hen parties who mingled amongst toddlers on the shoulders of parents and acts performing everything from hip-hop and heavy metal to blues and experimental sound making.

The chilled vibe to this festival forges a welcoming attitude for artists, encouraging a plethora of acts to entice a willing crowd. Everything from a light-hearted sing-along at The Wurzels or a head-banging session to the fiercely energetic Godstone, to the incredibly adept headline performance from REWS - a highlight of the 麻豆官网首页入口 Music Introducing stage on Friday. This high-energy and witty alt-pop-rock duo from London and Belfast emanated creativity and playfulness, giving you a nostalgic pang to the prowess of early HAIM songs, or the sultry sounds of Honeyblood. With a live performance which exuded rapture and tenacity, they held the crowd in awe, as they created a rich, distinct and dynamic sound despite only using two instruments. Their raw talent, dedication and innovative records, which came alive within the festival tent, will be essential as they excitedly embark on tour with Halestorm, supporting them on their nearly sold-out UK tour this Autumn.

Whilst the main stage of Little Orchard was indulged by headliners such as Hayseed Dixie and the Fratellis, it also gave a platform for some of the most memorable discoveries of the weekend, including the Devon-born band, The Native. Scouted while still studying for their A-levels, during a recording studio session bought by their doting parents, the indie-rock five piece have already racked up over 16,000 monthly listeners on Spotify from fans as far as Oslo and the USA. While all eyes are on these youngsters in a midst of industry buzz, they also garnered one of the biggest day-time crowds at the main stage of the festival, with people drawn to witness the beautifully controlled yet immense sound they were producing. With a mixture of unassuming innocence and captivating confidence, they were able to encompass simple and thoughtful lyrics with complex melodies, in a flawless live performance. Their chemistry on stage would rival bands twice their senior, they professionally incorporated intricate guitar solos, in tracks such as 鈥楩ar from a dream鈥, while remaining humble with excited smiles. A highly-spirited set with vocals that made the hairs on your arms stand up - I鈥檇 keep an eye on these boys!

Little Orchard鈥檚 laid-back vibe nurtures the evolution of local music acts and infuses an intimacy amongst the clusters of visitors. With a commitment to modest prices and continuous growth, while still remaining loyal to their distinct roots as a festival 鈥 it would be hard to leave Little Orchard without a smile, and the urge to buy a ticket for next year!
