An attempt to change Northern Ireland's abortion law

A Labour MP has put forward a bill to change the abortion law in Northern Ireland.

Diana Johnson says the existing law dates back to the 1860's and doesn't allow abortion even in cases of rape or incest.

But her bill was strongly opposed by a Conservative MP, Fiona Bruce, who argued it was an issue the Northern Ireland Assembly should decide and would pave the way for abortion on demand.

Alicia McCarthy reports.
