Deaths from terrorism fall for third year in a row
Last year 18,814 people were killed by terrorism around the world. It's a dreadfully high number, but it does mark reduction in the death toll for a third year in a row. Since 2015, the world has seen a 44% reduction in terror related deaths according to the Global Terror Index report, which released statistics for 2017 today.
Steve Killelea compiles the report and explains why the largest falls in violence have been seen in Syria and Iraq.
