This giant tortoise isn't extinct after all

A living member of a species of giant tortoise, which was thought to be extinct, has been found on the Galapagos Islands. An adult female was discovered under a bush on one of the remote islands earlier this week.

The last living example of the Fernandina giant tortoise was reported in 1906, but there are now hopes that more may be living on the island.

Professor James Gibb from the University of New York was one of the people who found the tortoise.
