In session

This week's live session comes from Worcester's Josh Northwood who, two years ago, took to the stage at Glastonbury.
Ìý
Despite only being 25-year-old, the singer/songwriter has a lifetime's worth of stories to tell.
Ìý
As a child, Josh's dad single-handedly rowed the Atlantic and then, soon after the Glastonbury gig, the drummer in his band Son Of A Way - which had just signed a record deal - died in a car crash.
Ìý
This was Josh's first public appearance since.
Ìý
"Armed with an array of FX pedals, Josh has an amazingly distinct sound" - Andrew Marston.
Ìý

Record deal

This week, we're meeting the Upton musician who landed a record deal in New York and Japan.
Ìý
Sally Night has recently returned to Worcestershire having spent the last few years dividing her time between the Big Apple and the south of France, where she was mentored by Bruce Lundvall - the CEO of Blue Note and EMI records.
Ìý
She's gone on to record three albums on Venus Records, a Japanese label, which has led to her touring the world.
Ìý
And her influences are so iconic, they can be recognised by their first names only - Ella, Peggy, Ray, Nat, Stevie, Luther, Eric and Sting!

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Music Introducing in Ledbury

This month's sessions were recorded at Ledbury's Market Theatre which has quite the history...
Ìý

It's owned by the Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society and built on the site of the old Market Theatre which used the be the only venue of its kind in Herefordshire for 18 years! That was between 1961 and 1979.
Ìý
The old theatre almost burnt down in the '80s by an accidental fire behind the building - but the damage was repaired by young offenders.
Ìý
Then, over 10 years later, when it was being demolished to make way for the theatre we see today, it caught fire AGAIN - which the dramatic society say could have been the poltergeist of the old building refusing to be upstaged and insisting on going out in style!
Ìý
Nowadays, it's run entirely by volunteers and they host a range of performances from plays to state-of-the-art cinema screenings and music events.
Ìý

Elgar manuscript

A long-lost piece of music by Worcestershire's Edward Elgar has fetched £5,400 at auction this week.
Ìý
The 1924 manuscript had been expected to go for around £1,000 when it went under the hammer at Bargain Hunt auctioneer Richard Winterton's saleroom in Staffordshire.

Health and happiness

We've discovered the key to health and happiness - singing!
Ìý
Claire Fowler is truly someone special - she uses her gift for singing to help people with a variety of health conditions.
Ìý
She has worked all over Herefordshre and Worcestershire spreading the word of wellbeing through music, working with the British Health Foundation and running workshops to help promote the good work singing can do to both physical and mental health.Ìý

Taiko workshops

Have you always been curious about performing music but have no experience?
Ìý
Well, there's an opportunity for you in the form of Taiko drumming!
Ìý
The Japanese range of percussion has thousands of years worth of history and is rooted in the musical culture of the nation.
Ìý
The next event takes place on .
