Could Judo help young people deal with violence?

A Conservative member of the Home Affairs Committee Sir Christopher Chope has suggested teaching young people martial arts to help them deal with violent situations.

The committee was questioning the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Cressida Dick and the Chief Constable of West Midlands Police, Dave Thompson.

Mr Thompson told Sir Christopher that "running away" was the best technique and he wouldn't advocate a strategy of increasing the combat readiness of young people.

Kristiina Cooper reports.
