Carmen Lees-Green is a 21-year-old jazz vocalist who studied at Hereford College of Arts.
听
She started songwriting in her early teens after listening to Amy Winehouse records and a chance meeting with Amy's guitarist Robin Banerjee led to them both putting some tracks down on tape.
听

Olly Alexander at Radio 1's Big Weekend

Last weekend, some of the biggest names in new music took to the stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend.
听
One of our local stars was Olly Alexander with his band Years & Years - who'd topped the 麻豆官网首页入口 Music Sound Of 2015 list.
听
Olly studied at Hereford College Of Arts and became the band's lead singer after meeting at a house party and was overheard singing in the shower!
听
He appeared as a special guest during Jax Jones' set.

Ellie Goulding at Radio 1's Big Weekend

The Herefordshire musician started singing as part of her drama classes at Lady Hawkins High School, while living in Kington, later performing at Open Mic nights while attending Hereford Sixth Form College - at Doodies (which is no more) on St Owen's Street.
听
And she's Herefordshire's most successful-ever export - having achieved more top 40 records than the Pretenders and Mott The Hoople put together.
听
Over these next couple of weeks, we'll hear tracks from her performance at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Middlesbrough.

Becky Hill at Radio 1's Big Weekend

Discovered right here on 麻豆官网首页入口 Hereford & Worcester, Bewdley's Becky Hill first sent in her music to us on the 1 November 2010.
听
Since having regular airplay on our 麻豆官网首页入口 Music Introducing show, she auditioned for the Voice - and landed the programme's first #1 single.
听
Since then, she's worked with a number of high profile producers and regularly achieves chart success with her songs.
听
Becky appeared on stage alongside Sigala.

Highlights: Mello Festival

The organisers of the Upton Sunshine Festival moved their secondary festival, Mello, to a new site at Hanley Castle last year from its previous home at Throckmorton Airfield.
听
This year, Goldie Lookin' Chain, EMF and Craig Charles graced the stages - with people travelling from all over Europe to attend.

Highlights: HowTheLightGetsIn, Hay-on-Wye

HowTheLightGetsIn proclaims itself as the world's largest music festival combining philosophy and music, which runs at the same time as its near neighbour, the Hay Festival.

This year's line up features speakers Anna Soubry and Liz Truss as well as music from Anna Calvi, Donovan, British Sea Power, and many more.

Boasting over 500 events and artists across 12 stages, HowTheLightGetsIn brings the world鈥檚 leading thinkers together with an inspiring programme of music, comedy, culture and performance.

This month's sessions were recorded in the 麻豆官网首页入口 tent at this year's Hay Festival.

The 2019 festivities featured more than 600 speakers across 11 days - including musicians Billy Bragg, The Gipsy Kings and The Waterboys.

According to festival director, Peter Florence, some 270,000 tickets were sold with attendees from over 40 countries, ranging from Afghanistan to Argentina.
